GAP Spotlight: Meet Harrison

“Rather than being better than someone else, try and be better than yourself.”

I am a full-time student at Santa Monica College, so I try and focus on my studies. In my free time I like to volunteer at the Meals on Wheels program, I feel like it gives my life some meaning, and after doing it I feel like I’ve really accomplished something.

IMG_4265I am trying my hardest to focus on school, and to learn how to make digital art. One of my other goals is to find new places to hang out spend time with my friends, I like to explore the city. I am also trying to my best to become more independent and maybe find a job in the future, but not yet.

I spend most of my time at the GAP program during the summer, but during the school year I try and spend all my time in class or studying at Santa Monica College. When I am not busy, for fun I like to work on some of my artwork, play video games, or catch up on my friends on social media.

GAP has introduced me to some now very close friends, helped me in college be successful, and has made a really positive environment for me to grow and explore the city. Though I may leave here at some point, I will miss my friends, the staff, and all the activities that we’ve done over the years.

Great job Harrison! We are proud of your dedication to your education!
