FACT “Family Celebration” – featuring Daroca’s Curious Journey & Jazz Hands for Autism

Note: come back regularly to learn about new performances, events and opportunities that will be part of this fun day!
Due to overwhelming popular demand, The Strindberg Laboratory’s “Jails to Jobs Program” and FACT are proud to bring back their very popular show, Daroca’s Curious Journey, a fantastical play about a circus troupe’s madness when they arrive at a magical bus stop. The play is 30 minutes of original stories, dances, songs and plenty of mayhem! The play will be the centerpiece of FACT’s Summer Family “Celebration of Abilities” that will involve music, movement, and camaraderie, along with education and advocacy about the autism spectrum and other developmental disabilities.
To round out the event, our friends at Jazz Hands for Autism will present a rousing musical celebration of talents and abilities.
The play is supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission. This is the first collaboration with the TSL “Jails to Jobs program” and FACT. The show is created and performed by young autistic adults; it’s co-director and costume designer are persons who have previously been incarcerated and have turned their lives around. About Jazz Hands for Autism
Jazz Hands For Autism is a talent advocacy group for musicians with autism. Our mission is to provide platforms and seek avenues where musically inclined individuals on the autism spectrum can express and explore their talents. We are tirelessly working to nurture the inner musician of our students by providing them with the resources they need to with connect to an audience of people through their musical passions and talents. By doing so, our students are equipped with confidence, a sense of meaning and belonging and some friends along the way. They are also able to become contributing members of society and make a career doing what they love to do! We have 2 primary programs through which we pursue our mission: The Jazz Hands Concert Series, a Twice-A-Year year curated concert series and the Jazz Hands Musicians Academy, a vocational and integrated employment program for aspiring musicians on the autism spectrum.
