NEW BOOK Published by Linda Andron “The World According to Cory”
In the recently released book, “World According to Cory”, Linda Andron Ostrow, LCSW shares her journey working with Cory who she met when he was diagnosed with autism in early childhood and had little theory of mind, very literal thinking and a great deal of anxiety.
Today he is a poised young adult who is in college & working as well as socializing. Each story is followed by a “take away” message for parents, teens and young adults on the spectrum, and the professionals that work with them. Color illustrations by a brilliant young artist bring the stories to life.
Reviews
…what I like about this book is that even though it is written by someone that doesn’t have autism, the author humanizes people on the spectrum and shows the good in them. She does focus primarily on Cory, but also mentions other people with autism and their viewpoints. Kudos to that! To be honest, this is the best autism book I have read that wasn’t written by someone on the spectrum, well, maybe The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime is an exception. But, aside from that book, this was well written and brief and covered a few highlights. I do wish the book was a bit longer, but it works for what it is, and I appreciated that I could read it in an hour. ~Arman Khodaei www.EmpoweringAutism.com
